Kate Schultz

Birds singing, bees buzzing, subtle shifts of the wind flowing across a bountiful backyard of vegetables and herbs, effortlessly tended to by the hands that held out to me freshly brewed coffee and warmly welcomed me into her home. To spend a morning at home with my fellow North Carolinian artist and friend, Kate Schultz, was a good reminder to me of how centering ourselves with nature and in community can be our greatest source of our creativity. Through her use of color, technique, and style, Kate’s paintings reflect the deep human connection we each have with Mother Nature. It was a great privilege to photograph Kate at her home studio and in her backyard on this day, and to make the experience even more amazing, she sent me home with a bundle of fresh rosemary and basil!
